2013 may have been one of the best years of my life.

I experienced change and growth in amazing quantities.

I have never been happier or more in love with my life.

And I am so grateful for everything that I have been blessed with.

I am absolutely content with where I am and I am excited to see what this new year brings.

May 2014 bring you immeasurable amounts of love, laughter, and prosperity.

May you pursue your passions until you are fulfilled and live everyday as if you will never receive another.

Shower family and friends with love.

Soak in every moment.

Enjoy the good and release the bad.

Most importantly welcome 2014, and all the good fortune that this new year will bring, with open arms.

Hello all.

i had the most wonderful christmas this year. it was filled with family, twins,
love, food, laughter, peace, joy, and awesome gift giving and receiving. i feel like the entire month of december has been wonderful. there was no stress and very little rushing and every day was enjoyed and celebrated until christmas day itself.

it was the boys first christmas and they were lavished with presents from both sides of their family, and only one gift by us (;p). (cut us some slack they're only 9 months, and they had a ball ripping open the wrapping paper to their fisher price basketball hoop.)

christmas is one of my favorite time of years because of the warm feelings that christmas brings. the desire to give generously from the heart and bring others joy is what i love about christmas. the excitement. the anticipation. the generosity. the family bonding. the general feeling of good will and love. these are the feelings of christmas that should be carried with us through out the year.

i hope everyone's christmas was as blessed and beautiful as mine was.

merry christmas and happy new year from king and ky. guess which one is which. haha

Lions and Bears and Teeth....Oh My!!

I knew the teething stage was going to be a little tough, but I had no idea how difficult it would really be. One teething baby = no fun, but add in another baby and only one mama and it is an extreme challenge. I hate to see my babies in pain and not really being able to do anything about it, and it seems like nothing really relieves their symptoms. I have tried pretty much everything.

Teething Rings/Keys
Cold Washcloths
Wooden teethers

And the only thing that seems to kind of work is to rub tylenol directly on their gums. King has cut his two bottom teeth so far and Ky is still working on the first one. Needless to say I. Am. EXHAUSTED.
The boys don't want to eat or sleep. Its reminiscent of their newborn days, but no where near as insane. I am definitely going to purchase some amber beads, since I have only heard good things about them and the way that amber relieves teething pain.

I don't like the idea of the boys wearing an amber bead necklace because I feel like that is just asking for trouble but I will figure out a way for the beads to be close to their bodies. I will let you guys know what I come up with.

On another note, I saw this picture on my friends instagram, (follow me @offshore_savage ;) )
and it describes the motherhood experience perfectly.

being a mom is the best!!!

That Warm Cozy Feeling

I have been overly emotional since I had the twins, this being said, I teared up at the end of Apple's Christmas commercial "misunderstood". I'm posting the video here so others can get warm, cozy, and Christmasy.

Make Your Own Edible Snow!

I made my own snow in my freezer today and now I am going to share with you the simple steps to making your own freezer snow:

  • Place a can of Sierra Mist in your freezer

  • Forget to drink the soda and pass out due to sheer exhaustion of chasing after twin boys who put any and everything into their mouths

  • Wake up the next morning and go about your day as usual

  • Put your babies down for a nap and try to take one yourself

  • You and babies wake up to what you think is a gunshot, or somebody trying to break in to your apartment

  • You leave the room and grab the fireplace poker  because you need protection from whomever is trying to break in your home

  • You go into every room searching for an intruder, and checking all the locks and windows

  • Everything looks fine so you go about your day

  • Hours later you happen to open your freezer and see that it is covered in snow, and you realize that the soda can you had placed in there had burst and covered your freezer in lemony lime slush

  • You also realize that the gun shot sound came from the can bursting

  • You have an epiphany

  • You take the can put a spoon in it and eat the "snow"

  • You enjoy your treat

Yup. I created this delightful treat.

Martha Stewart Is My Home Girl....

The holidays are here, one of my favorite times of the year, and I will be posting a whole lot about Christmas!! This will be my first Christmas with my own family and I am so excited to be starting my own traditions while incorporating traditions from mine and my love's childhood.

I was recently at JcPenney and wandered into the Martha Stewart Christmas collection and absolutely fell in LOVE!!

It also gave me much needed inspiration while I am decorating my home for Christmas, and in turn I am sharing some of that inspiration with you.

Small Victories

I have only been a proud member of the mother hood club for 8 months, but I am already too familiar with motherhood guilt. That guilt you feel when you believe that you have let your spouse or kids down. When you feel as if you haven't accomplished enough in your day.

I hate the guilt. I hate the unnecessary pressure that I put upon myself. The expectations that I feel like I am supposed to be living up to; expectations that aren't even coming from my own heart.

I had to have a heart to heart talk with my father, God, about the pressure that I was feeling, and he placed upon my heart the words that He spoke in Genesis after He created the heavens and earth. "God saw all that he had made, and it was very good..." Genesis 1:31

That made me think. What if I lived my life that way? What if I found joy in the small things and celebrated what I had accomplished instead of lamenting what I hadn't been able to get done?

What if I didn't stress over the small things? What if I simply was thankful for waking up every morning? Thankful for my boys being alive, healthy, and happy?  I bet my days would go a lot smoother, I would probably get a lot more done, and have more peace, if I focused on the positive.

So that is what I have been doing. I have been counting everything joy. I have been thankful for every accomplishment. Reveling in the small victories, because that is what life is all about. And so far, so far it has made my life so much more enjoyable.
